The latest news:

• Novocure (NVCR) Issues Positive Update on TTFields Study in Certain Glioblastoma Patients         Great news - you can use the Optune system even if you have a non-programmable shunt installed!   They aren't sure yet about programable shunts or pacemakers - they had a few patients who used Optune with these without problems but not enough for the FDA to remove the warning on the package insert.
  



• Patient with Brain Tumor Responds Dramatically to Targeted Therapy         This may open the door for a new treatment for papillary craniopharyngioma.
  



• The Musella Foundation has awarded a pediatric brain tumor research grant         This project focuses on DIPG and has already found new biomarkers that might be able to be used as targets for new treatments.
  



• A phase II trial of enzastaurin (LY317615) in combination with bevacizumab in adults with recurrent malignant gliomas.         Unfortunately another negative trial. Adding Enzastaurin to Avastin did not help.
  



• First Patient Enrolled in Toca 5, Tocagen’s Phase 2/3 Clinical Trial in Patients with Recurrent Glioblastoma or Anaplastic Astrocytoma         This is an interesting trial.  We (the Musella Foundation) helped fund earlier versions of it!
