Hi
. Medicare posted a "proposed rule" that would delete the billing code for brain tumor surgeries involving gliadel. This is the code that we fought hard for - and won - a few years ago. Before we got this code, many hospitals refused to use gliadel due to the expense. If we lose the code, many patients will lose access to Gliadel.
There is an open comment period now - until 6/12/2007 - where the public can post comments on the medicare website,
I attended a meeting about this issue at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid as the brain tumor patient representative. They were very understanding about the need to fix this problem, but told me that the more people that ask for this, the better chance we will have of getting it.
So I need everyone reading this to get their friends and family together and post comments on the medicare website. Then email your senators and ask them to post a comment also.
I posted detailed instructions and a sample letter on my website. Go to virtualtrials.com/activism.cfm for details.
After posting the comment, send me a copy of what you sent and I will compile them into a petition and have it hand delivered to our contact person.
thanks
