On November 7th, 2010, Stay Classy will announce the Charity of the Year from select major cities across the United States at the Classy Awards in San Diego, Ca. Known as the Academy Awards of Philanthropy; the Classy Awards recognize hardworking charities, volunteers, philanthropic businesses and more for their contributions to their communities and their cause.
One of the city finalists for the Washington DC metro area is a charity from Loudoun County, Va; The Brad Kaminsky Foundation (TBKF). They are currently in 2nd place and would like to ask the support of all those who work so hard in the brain tumor community and have been affected by the disease. “This will afford the opportunity to inform the general public about this disease and to raise more awareness, which benefits everyone in the brain tumor community.” said, Alan Kaminsky, father or Brad Kaminsky for whom the foundation was named.
TBKF began in 2001 when the Kaminsky family lost Brad Kaminsky to brain cancer. He was 29. They promised they would never stop fighting until the cure was found. Committed to avenging the disease and helping those affected, TBKF continues to fulfill the promise by focusing TBKF’s efforts on raising awareness and funds for innovative brain tumor research.
TBKF helps those affected by providing support and resources, and hosts numerous events in the DC metro area to raise funds for the cause including a Kids Helping Kids event each September for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month.
TBKF has donated over $350,000 to research and continues to help those affected by brain tumors and cancer on a daily basis.
