In Loving Memory Of Alexandra Kowalski-Caruso

It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Alexandra Monique Kowalski on March 4, 2023. Alexandra, age 53, passed away peacefully after a long and valiant battle with brain cancer. There are no words to express the immense loss and pain we feel. She was, and is, a truly beautiful soul whose example of kindness, generosity, character, humility, and love will remain with us forever. Above all she was a loving and caring mother that devoted herself to her children. Alexandra (Alex) was born in Brussels, Belgium, on December 3, 1969. She was brought to the United States at the tender age of 9 months by her mother Arlette and father, Dr. Andre Renard (recently deceased). She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, with her older sister Valerie and younger brother Laurent. Alex graduated from Bolles High School in 1987. She went on to graduate from the College of Charleston and then later received a law degree from Florida State University.

She had two children, Kyle and Tessa, with her first husband, Dr. Robert Kowalski, and lived and practiced law in Ohio, Mississippi and then Texas and ultimately settled in Tampa, Florida.

Two years ago, Alex married her current husband, Thom Caruso, in a beautiful ceremony on Davis Island. Alex and Thom, who also has two children from a prior marriage, Colton and Connor, were looking forward to their new future ahead. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, Alex was diagnosed with cancer and immediately began her difficult treatments and medical care. Her positive attitude and deep faith during this time was a true example of courage and bravery.

Alex was a very talented and skillful attorney and much admired by her colleagues and managers for her intelligence and professionalism. She loved to laugh, tell jokes, and had an awesome sense of wit and humor. Her command of the English language was unmatched. She was a great cook, loved to travel and had a true zest for life and love of family. Alex had many longtime loyal friends, many of whom were by her side during her arduous cancer battle.

She is survived her children, Kyle and Tessa; her husband Thom and his children Colton and Connor; her mother Arlette (Stan); her sisters Valerie and Janae (Scott); her brother Laurent (Marie-France); her stepmother Carol, and many nieces and nephews and other close friends.

In lieu of flowers, Alex asked donations to be made to Musella Foundation, on this page
