This week, May 1st-7th, is National Brain Tumor Awareness week. An elementary school in Hatboro, PA that has been closely touched by this disease, wanted to reach out to the brain tumor community. A student of theirs, Shayne Fleck, lost his battle in September 2002 to a Brain Stem Glioma at the age of six. His twin brother, Joshua who still attends the school, is proud of the support of the community. To help raise awareness and funds for research for those affected by brain tumors, they have designated a CRAZY HAT DAY.
On Friday May 5th, by donating $1 students can wear a hat of their choice for the day. All monies raised will go toward brain tumor research. Upon learning of the charitable event, the other four elementary schools in the Hatboro-Horsham District have joined in and all students K-5th grade may participate! If interested in donating, contact Caitlin Fleck at Fleck94@verizon.net
