The Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) announced today that they agreed to assign all Gliadel® cases to MS-DRG 23. The title for MS-DRG 023 is changed to “Craniotomy with Major Device Implant or Acute Complex Central Nervous System Principal Diagnosis with MCC or Chemo Agent"
This is exactlly what we asked for in our recent letter writing campaign. I do not know if the campaign helped or not, but CMS did mention, in their announcement, that there were "Many commenters encouraged CMS to reassign these cases to DRG 23"!
