University of Rochester Medical Center hosts Brain Tumor Awareness Week events for patients, caregivers, and clinicians.

 

 

During the 2010 Brain Tumor Awareness Week, staff at the University of Rochester Medical Center will host three special events for patients, caregivers, and clinicians.

 

The first is the Annual Sharing Hope Picnic, which will be held on Thursday, May 6th at Kings Bend Park in Pittsford, NY starting at 4:30pm.  The picnic is free and is open to any patient who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and their family.  For more information or to RSVP, contact Barbara Guttman at 585-275-4631.

 

On Friday, May 6th, URMC will sponsor the 3rd Annual Update in NeuroOncology.  This is a full day of education for patients, families, and medical professionals to learn more about brain tumor diagnosis and treatment.  It will be held at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua, NY from 8:00am -4:45 pm. There is a $20 fee for patients or family members and more info can be found at www.urmc.rochester.edu/cpe  or by calling 585-275-4392.

 

Finally, Caregivers can enjoy a free day of education, networking, and a bit of pampering at the 3rd Annual Brain Tumor Caregiver Training held on Saturday, May 8th from 8:30am to 4:00pm at the Colgate Rochester Crozer  Divinity School in Rochester.  Family and friends of patients with primary malignant brain tumors are invited, but patients are asked to skip this one!
