Musella Foundation Awards Grant to Tocagen to Support Clinical Study of
Toca 511 & Toca FC in Brain Cancer Patients
HEWLETT, NY, July 16, 2012 – The Musella Foundation For Brain Tumor Research & Information, Inc. (Musella Foundation), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of families dealing with brain cancer, today announced that it has awarded Tocagen Inc. (www.tocagen.com) a grant to support the clinical investigation of Toca 511 & Toca FC in patients with recurrent Grade 3 glioma brain cancer. Tocagen is a privately held biopharmaceutical company developing novel treatments for advanced cancer, with an initial focus on brain cancer.
“This grant supports an important new opportunity for patients with Grade 3 glioma,” said Al Musella, DPM, President of the Musella Foundation. “It is innovations like Toca 511 & Toca FC that we believe may make a difference in the lives of these patients.”
Tocagen is enrolling patients across the U.S. in its investigational clinical trials of Toca 511 (vocimagene amiretrorepvec), for injection & Toca FC (flucytosine), extended-release tablets. These multicenter, open-label studies are evaluating patients with recurrent high-grade glioma, who have had prior surgery and chemoradiation.
