This is our most important issue today. Medicare doesn't want to pay for an FDA approved brain cancer treatment that is the standard of care. Please forward the attached message to all of your friends!
Musella Foundation launches online petition to request that Medicare cover new brain tumor treatment
The NovoTTF100-a system is a new concept in cancer treatment. It uses tumor treating fields to disrupt dividing cells. It has been developed by the leading brain tumor specialists around the world, and went through one of the largest phase 3 clinical trial for recurrent glioblastoma ever. The treatment works as well or better than any other treatment for recurrent glioblastoma, but has no serious side effects. Over 100 USA brain tumor centers have become certified in it’s use. It was approved by the FDA, and it is listed as the standard of care by the NCCN guidelines.
However, Medicare has decided that they do not want to pay for it. They proposed a ruling that says "Tumor treatment field therapy (E0766) will be denied as not reasonable and necessary". This will result in our brain cancer patients who are insured under Medicare not being able to get access to this treatment.
There is an open public comment period that ends 2/10 /14. We want to present a petition to them with an overwhelming number of signers, and will also send the petition to congress and the president asking for their help.
