Al's Comment:
A nice story about GammaTiles. GammaTiles are an FDA approved therapy for newly diagnosed and recurrent malignant brain tumors. They are implanted at the time of surgery and release radiation to the tumor bed.

After a 16 Year Battle with a Recurrent Glioma, Shannan Finds New Hope in GammaTile Therapy
Shannan was first diagnosed with a WHO Grade II glioma in 2003. After an initial resection, the tumor recurred 3 times over the next 16 years, and she endured multiple craniotomies, oral chemotherapy, and external beam radiation therapy. When the glioma recurred for the 3rd time in 2019, Shannan and her neurosurgeon, Dr. John Clough, decided it was time to try something new. Shannan was the 1st patient in Kansas to receive GammaTile Therapy, a Surgically Targeted Radiation Therapy specifically designed for the brain. After receiving this new treatment, Shannan wanted to help others with brain tumors and has fulfilled that wish by becoming a GammaTile Therapy Patient Navigator. Since her surgery, Shannan is doing great and continues to work full time as an accountant. Her last scan in November showed no evidence of progression.
