The Musella Foundation presents the Brain Tumor Awareness Month Webinar Series!

To commemorate brain tumor awareness month (May), we are hosting a series of scientific webinars.  The events will be presented live on our website, virtualtrials.org.
Click on the Webinar link near the top of the home page for the schedule and to participate. All of the events are on a Sunday night at 7pm eastern time.   There will be time for you to ask questions live or you can email us questions in advance (to musella@virtualtrials.org) and we will try to cover them.

Come to the room about 5 minutes before each event.  Our Zoom room can hold 100 participants. If there is overflow we will try to stream it live on Facebook.  Details will be on our website.
The schedule is subject to change. Here is the current schedule of events:

Sunday May 2, 2021 at 7pm Eastern Time:  “Convection-enhanced Delivery of OS2966 for Treatment of Recurrent High Grade Glioma - A Window of Opportunity Trial”, presented by Dr. Anne-Marie Carbonell and Dr Michael Vogelbaum.     This will be not only about an exciting new treatment for brain tumors but also about the technique of convection enhanced delivery. This is a way to get drugs into the tumor and bypass the blood brain barrier. A lot of progress has been made in the technique over the last few years.

Our May 9 event was cancelled. If you have an idea for a topic or speaker, let us know!

Sunday, May16,2021 at 7pm Eastern Time: We have 2 speakers:
First up: Perfusion MRI of brain tumors by Dr Mark Shiroishi. This will talk about ways to tell if a treatment is working sooner than with the standard MRIs, and helps to tell the difference between pseudoprogression and true progression. (If you do not understand those terms, tune it and they will be explained!)

Followed by: A Phase I study of a new drug candidate for high grade brain tumors by Dr Christopher Chitambar.  He will talk about a completely new class of treatment for brain tumors.

Sunday, 23, 2021 at 7pm Eastern Time: A New Hope in Treating Metastatic Brain Tumors: Recent Advances and Opportunities by  Dr. Hussein A. Tawbi.    Metastatic brain tumors are 10 times more common than primary brain tumors, and in the past these were thought to be hopeless.  This webinar talks about some exciting new treatments that can at least control the brain mets in some cases.

Sunday, 30, 2021 at 7pm Eastern Time: Musella Foundation Projects: Clinwiki, Patient Navigation, Promising Pathway Act by Al Musella, Erika Vial Monteverdi,  Tim Stuhlmiller, and   William Hoos.  We will be talking about exciting new projects that will have a big impact in your life. The goal is to speed up the process to get the best treatments for you. We are tired of the slow progress over the last hundred years. We feel we have a solution to identify the best treatments, enable access to them and then learn from every patient’s experiences so that the next patient does better. We believe that we can drastically speed up the process of developing new drugs, increase the amount of research being done, and cut the costs.
