Ximena's impact in this world and in our hearts will forever be imprinted in our souls. Her kindness, love and desire to ensure inclusivity and compassion towards others allowed all those she connected with to find refuge, peace and companionship. While we deeply mourn her loss, we are comforted by the expression of gratitude from many for the influence she had on their lives, and will remember her always.
Ximena was a woman who embraced the many roles she was blessed with taking on: a wife, a mother/mother-in-law, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, a godmother and a friend. Ximena was grounded by her faith in God, her commitment to family and her relationships with friends. She was proud of her Bolivian heritage and grateful for the many opportunities afforded to her since arriving in the U.S. as a 16-year old immigrant wishing to travel the world.
Her ability to connect across generations allowed her to build beautiful and personal relationships that spanned the spectrum of age and gender. For Ximena, family gatherings and celebrations were core displays of her love. But so too were the moments she created individually, especially with those struggling with personal challenges. Throughout her miraculous 4-year struggle with terminal brain cancer, Ximena gifted her family and friends with a roadmap on how to live a life in a balance where suffering, sorrow, joy, love and dignity can co-exist.
Ximena is survived by her husband Joaquin, children and partners (Felipe, Sandra, Isabel and Joaquin, with Jennifer, Juan, Ana and Danny) and grandchildren (Karina, Sebastian, Valentina, Catalina, Jocelyn, Joanna, Justin, Amari); brother Rodrigo, and the many cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family that have played such an important part of her life. May God's mercy and peace be upon you, Ximena, and may His perpetual light shine upon you.
