In Memory of Sally Taccone
January 8,1963 - November 11, 2024Sally J. (Scherder) Taccone, age 61, of Wexford, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 11, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 8, 1963, daughter of Mary Lois (Hartle) Scherder and the late William Scherder. Sally was the beloved wife of Anthony R. (Tony) Taccone for 39 wonderful years; loving mother of Andrew (Elizabeth) Taccone, Caroline (RJ) Langlois, and Madeline (Michael) Zumbo; grandmother of Siena and Anthony Taccone; sister of Phil (Bridget) Scherder, Nancy Scherder, and the late Mark Scherder. Sally was a graduate of North Allegheny High School (1981) and Washington & Jefferson College (1985), where she met her husband on an intersession trip to the former Soviet Union in January 1982. Sally's greatest joy was her role as a mom, a wife, and a beloved Gigi to her two grandchildren. She especially loved Sunday family dinners and passing along her considerable cooking and baking skills to her family. Sally lived an active lifestyle and enjoyed spending time working in her flower and herb gardens, walking her two English Setters, and playing paddle at the North Park Paddle Tennis Association. Sally was a faith-filled Catholic and a longtime member of Saints John and Paul Catholic Church and more recently St. John Neumann Church. Despite a difficult diagnosis, Sally remained a beacon of positivity and light, determined to live her remaining days to the fullest, fortified by her strong faith, devoted family, and wonderful friends. She will be dearly missed. Family will welcome friends on Thursday, November 14th from 1-4 & 5-8 p.m. at Schellhaas & Sons Funeral Home, 1600 Stone Mansion Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143 (Franklin Park/Wexford).
