David Timothy Wright ended his brief battle with cancer on October 29th. He’d celebrated his 55th birthday just three weeks before, surrounded by family and friends in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his father, Timothy Nelson Wright, and sister, Wendy Rae Lotze, and is preceded in death by his mother, Molly Joyce Wright. He is also desperately missed by his two cats, Rascal and Elmo, whom he utterly adored.
David was born in Phoenix, and graduated from Moon Valley High School 1990. He served active duty in the US Navy from 1999-2001 aboard the USS Cushing. After returning from the Navy, he lived in Phoenix until 2020 when he moved to Tucson to be closer to his sister. Four days before he passed, he was Baptized into the Abiding in Christ Fellowship where he’d so recently found a supportive and loving community.
Everyone who knew David saw a pure-hearted soul whose primary goal was to make other people smile and laugh. He was a repository of dad jokes and corny movie lines and had an uncanny memory for birthdays and anniversaries. David loved to build model planes and cars, collect toys and momentos, and had an enviable collection of hats.
His family asks that those wishing to memorialize David’s life donate in his memory to the Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research & Information. Not everyone is as fortunate as he was to have the support of fully funded medical care, and we do not believe that financial limitations should bar receiving life-preserving treatment.
When you make a donation below, we will already know it is for David and we will send an acknowledgement of your gift to the family.
